We apply the sensitivity period  concept of developmental psychology to the training of all children. Training in this group emphasizes the joy of exercise combined with gradually rising technical difficulty. With the younger juniors, many playful supporting exercises are done, but building of strong technical basis is started right from the beginning at white belt grade using normal taekwondo techniques.

Juniors and adults of all ages practice the same areas of taekwondo: Basic techniques, match, poomsae and self-defense but the technical requirements have been adapted according to the learning abilities of the children of this particular age range. For example, some self-defense techniques are not practiced in this group. Because the children are already of school age, they must know the basic norms they are used to at school also. This means e.g. that child knows how to tie taekwondo belt and he/she can be silent when asked and knows when the training starts.

Children of ages 10 to 13 also practice with playful supporting exercises, but the main emphasis of the training is on practicing the basic techniques. In comparison to the group of the younger juniors, more demanding techniques are practiced in this group. The significance of concentration skills and coordination skills is larger than in the other junior group. Also in this group, the belt grade requirements have been adapted according to the learning abilities of the children of this particular age range using the ideas of the sensitivity period concept. For example, some self-defense techniques are not practiced
